The Five Pillars of Islam

Today we explored the Five Pillars of Islam and their importance to the Islamic faith.  Students took Q-notes and created pictures or flashcards to help them remember the Five Pillars.  The Q-notes can be found here.

Chapter 2-1 - The Rise of Islam

Today we are beginning chapter 2-1.  We will be taking our first Q-notes on the founding of Islam.  For each Q-notes, I provide the students with guiding questions that they will answer based on the day's lesson.  The Q-notes for today can be found here and the lesson can be found here.  Have a great day!

Interactive Notebook Guidelines and Rubric

Frayer Model Vocabulary

This year we will be using the Frayer Model for vocabulary.  Students will work in the text in order to complete the worksheet.  If your student loses the worksheet, one can be found here.

Interactive Notebooks

Today we assembled our interactive notebooks.  Please make sure that your student brings it to school everyday and that they have a glue stick in order to stay up-to-date with the material.  If you have any questions, please let me know.

Chapter 2 - Islamic CIvilization

It was so nice seeing some of you at Back to School Night!  If you were unable to make it, but would like to receive email updates please click on this link and fill out the form.  I want to remind everyone that students need their class materials by Tuesday, September 2.  Again, they need a spiral notebook with a minimum of 200 pages, glue or tape, pens, pencils, and a set of either crayons or color pencils for home.  If you have any questions please let me know.
